    What 年龄 group is 安全城市 geared towards?

    安全城市 is for children entering Young Fives, Kindergarten or 1st Grade in the Fall of 2024. Children must be 5 years old by December 1, 2024 to enroll.

    安全城市 morning camp begins at 8:30am. 办理登机手续的时间是上午8:15-8:30, and will take place inside the building in the multipurpose room (MPR). These hours are set to fit better with camps and classes that begin promptly and so that you're not delivering your other children late. You will enter through door #1 and find your child's classroom table and check in with the classroom assistant.

    安全城市 morning camp ends at 11:30am. 退房时间为上午11:30-11:45, and will take place inside the building in the multipurpose room (MPR). You will enter through door #1 and find your child's classroom table and check out with the classroom staff.

    A Photo ID will be required for anyone picking up your child.

    注意: If someone other than a parent will be picking up your child, and you did not include them on the list of “persons authorized to pick up” when you registered, 请在还车时注明.

     

    What time does 安全城市 After Care end?

    After Care check out time is flexible and students can be picked up as early as 1pm, 但 所有营员必须于下午五点半前接机. Families will be charged a late fee if they arrive after 5:30 to pick up their child(ren). A Photo ID will be required for anyone picking up your child. 

     

    What does my child need to bring to Morning 安全城市?

    What does my child need to bring to 安全城市 After Care? 

    所有儿童在照顾后必须带 两种不含坚果的零食 (见 安全零食清单 以上), 午饭没有吃坚果 和一个 装满水的瓶子 every day, along with an extra set of clothes, just in case. Please put these in a backpack or easy-to-carry bag with your child's name on it. Packed lunches at camp are often kept at room temperature for 4-6 hours.

     

    When will I find out what room my child is in? 

    We will send out emails with all necessary details, 包括你的教室号, on the Monday afternoon before camp begins. In the event of a delay, we will send the information to you by the Thursday prior.

     

    Why can't you send out the room information earlier? 

    Scheduling children in one of our 10 classrooms takes time and can be complicated. We're trying to place children with others going to their same school. We're also trying to place them with their friends if you've requested them. Some children are still registering during this same time too.

     

    会有培训吗?

    是的! A parent orientation will be virtual and held on the Tuesday before camp begins. 时间待定.

    What if some of this information changes, or I miss filling something out? 

    Sometimes you don't know the answers to everything when you register. If something changes or needs updating, email us with this information at safetytown@aaps.k12.mi.us. We will answer and let you know we've received it and correct your information in our system. 注意: that we will NOT know this information unless you share it with us.

     

    How can I know what the daily schedule is? 

    We are still in the planning st年龄s for our program. The weekly schedule for 安全城市 will be available soon!

     

    What is the Fire Safety House, and what happens in it?  

    Although we tell the children what to do and even have fire drills to practice what to do in the event of a fire, 人类天生就会战斗或逃跑. We want to provide conditions similar to an actual fire, so they are more likely to react in a safe way in a real emergency situation. The Fire Safety House experience helps children learn by doing and to get under the smoke and get out of the house.

    What do you mean by covering school drills?

    Since 安全城市 is the first time some children are in a school setting, we want to prepare them as best as possible for when they go to school in the Fall. We want the children to understand what they need to do during fire and severe weather drills while at school, 但 我们不会进行任何演习. 我们不会报道封锁演习. We are working directly with the AAPS School District to prepare this material. 

     

    Are there scholarships available for 安全城市?

    是的! We allow a certain number of scholarships for each week of 安全城市. There are some co-pays due at the time of registration.
